      Hi Steve!

Nice entrapment case of SPN I scanned today.
Unexplained leg pain few months. Possibly began when he was doing leg curls at the gym.
Active person, looks like a previous AITFS injury (Not sure if this has contributed to this)
Looks like it weaves in and out of the fascia adjacent to the fibula.
      Is this the crural fascia?

      Wow !

      What a lovely video,

You can certainly see how focally swollen the SPN is.

It does look like it has a rather unusual relationship with that fascial layer.

The fascial layer on the antero-medial aspect of the fibula is the extensor retinaculum.

I have never given much thought to the layer on the poster-lateral aspect of the fibula.

The crural fascia seems reasonable. I think of this being more around the knee, but as it is a fascia it is bound to extend further distal!

Whatever it is called, this nerve is not enjoying passing back and forth through it.

Thanks so much for the forum post.

It is an awesome case, and well done to you for matching up the clinical symptoms and a great diagnosis.

      Steve
