Hi, Steve. Nice to meet you on the forum.
I’m sorry to disturb you again for asking about a case.
This patient was 55-year-old female, who had a previous injury during excercies 2 weeks ago.
Since then, she had local pain of posterior hip thus affecting hip movement.
With US, swelling and increased echogenicity was observed around the tissue of posterior hip, with increased color Doppler signal. There is also irregularity of bony surface.
I have no idea of the diagnosis, can you help me? Thank you very much!

This looks nasty to me Xue,

It is in the location of the Gluteus Maximus insertion.

      There is bony involvement.

It could be infective like osteomyelitis or an abscess forming in the G-Max with bony involvement.

It could also be a malignant process like a metastasis or q primary bone tumour.

It needs cross sectional imaging to assess the femur and overlying soft tissues,

Either way I don’t like the look of it!

Let us all know what the cross sectional imaging shows.

      Steve
