Stephen Bird

Hi Katrina,

Lovely to hear form you,

What is the gestational age of this scan?

It is certainly an echogenic focus within the septum / right ventricle.

It is a little more towards the apex than the typical position for an echogenic focus however I do see them in this position occasionally.

I don’t really think it is likely to be a significant finding.

The importance of echogenic foci in the heart as a soft marker for aneuploid has diminished over the years.

It could be noted and a follow up scan could be organised.

A differential would be a cardiac myxoma, however I think this is highly unlikely.

Most of these echogenic foci are associated with the valve attachment apparatus and are of no significance.

Was it mobile during the cardiac cycle?
